A three-cylinder engine block gets an entry-level label under the hood of the 2020 Volvo XC40. This 1.5 L turbocharged powertrain generates up to 129 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Four cylinders work in unison inside the 2.0 L turbo engine that delivers up to 190 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. When installed in the T5 editions, this powertrain increases the output to 247 hp and 258 lb-ft. This Volvo car is also available with a turbo diesel engine that yields 150 hp and 236 lb-ft. When it carries the D4 badge, the diesel powertrain delivers up to 190 hp and 295 lb-ft. Select XC40 trims get supplemental power from an electric motor and battery. An eight-speed automatic transmission system is connected to the car’s all-wheel drive. The manual gearbox comes with a total of six fixed speeds.
Interior
As you enter the 2020 Volvo XC40, LED ambient lights produce a pleasant beam with a color that matches the interior design. The City Safety technology has been updated for the 2020 Volvo XC40. This patented function continuously scans the road for any potential risks involving other moving cars, pedestrians, bicyclists or animals. If there’s an imminent threat of an impact, the brakes will be automatically activated at the appropriate levels. Mounted on the exterior side mirrors, front and rear bumpers, multiple cameras work in sync to generate 360-degree overhead views that are shown on the infotainment screen. The Park Pilot Assist and Assisted Parking Exit are some driving aides that prevent low-speed impacts in parking lots. This Volvo crossover SUV also has various sensors that analyze the driver’s blind spots.
